Preparing your feet for the Fall road races

We would like to wish everyone good luck this weekend at the upcoming Isle of Palms Connector Run (5K/10K). If you are suffering from a nagging foot injury that bothers you before, during, or after your training please come to either our Mt. Pleasant or West Ashley location for a foot evaluation. It is important to realize that foot pain after 3-5 days is not normal and compensating for your specific foot ailment can prolong healing time and become frustrating for you.

The most common foot injuries that we see in our practice with respects to training for these road races are as follows:

1) Heel pain (plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, stress fracture of the heel, growth plate injury in children).

2) Shin splints

3) Overuse running injuries such as foot tendontitis

4) Neuromas

Dr. Brown and Dr. Saffer are both active runners and understand foot injuries and biomechanics related to running. Conservative treatment options that correctly diagnose each individuals specific foot condition and coming up with a detailed conservative treatment plan is how our foot specialists treat our active patient population.
